I want the ryegrass for grazing this fall after I take the oats off. I don't want it to survive the winter, next year I'll plant alfalfa, Timothy and brome with oats as a nurse crop. That's a springtime thing up there?

Now how did I get my head in there ? Too late ! That photo contest was last month !
I don't know anything about ducks. My oldest daughter got ducks a few years ago, and she tells me they need enough water to splash in and bathe. Is that something you have found? We got baby ducks in early February. Hope they start laying eggs next month. Chickens usually 4 months and ducks five. But the ducks grew so fast it was amazing.

Living in town now we didn't want a rooster waking anybody up. This is the first ducks I've had and they are a hoot. I have learned that you can't soft boil a duck egg.
I don't know if they "need" water to splash around in... but they sure enjoy it. We stuck a cut off (9") plastic cattle trough out in the pasture with a sprinkler mounted on a plastic stool, and we run it just enough to have the water about a foot tall so it dribbles into the pool.I don't know anything about ducks.
