He's 14 months old and 1/3 Aberdeen (Lowline), but home-raised and filling a need. Might not be a super bull, but he works for us for now.
How can an animal be 1/3rd anything? He's 14 months old and 1/3 Aberdeen (Lowline), but home-raised and filling a need. Might not be a super bull, but he works for us for now.
Sire was 65%, cut that in half, that's about 1/3, right? Or 32.5% if you want percentages….How can an animal be 1/3rd anything?
Sire may have been 62.5%...5/8ths. So he would be 5/16ths....31.25%. You can't divide 1/4s, 1/8s, 1/16s, 1/32s etc., by 3.Sire was 65%, cut that in half, that's about 1/3, right? Or 32.5% if you want percentages….
I was rounding, make him 5/16ths then.Sire may have been 62.5%...5/8ths. So he would be 5/16ths....31.25%. You can't divide 1/4s, 1/8s, 1/16s, 1/32s etc., by 3.
Great looking bull, TC. How old is he?I'll be darned, finally got a dignified pic of Woody posing. Okay, "dignified" is subjective and clearly still in working mode.
Thanks! He turned 6 Jan 30th. Super docile and easy to work. Twice, I've pulled a stick from between his toes in the pasture and he just stands there while I'm tugging with needle nose pliers and digging with a screwdriver. Remember The Lion and the Mouse?Great looking bull, TC. How old is he?
Anyone have experience or opinion on how calves like this would sell in US or in Texas? Lotta size and muscle thereHopefully a herdbull for the next year. Getting some tips from his mom how he needs to aproach a woman, it seems today. 5 months old.

Most Texas (and US) cows couldn't calve to them. My cows are fairly large and I wouldn't want to put one of L Farmer's bulls on them.Anyone have experience or opinion on how calves like this would sell in US or in Texas? Lotta size and muscle there
I believe double muscle calves get discounted.Anyone have experience or opinion on how calves like this would sell in US or in Texas? Lotta size and muscle there
I think you're right. I had a bunch of apple butts in the early to mid 80's and they brought good money but then people got scared of them because people with crappy cattle had some poor calving results and the fear took hold and the double muscled calves started to be discounted. Personally, I only had one bad calving experience with double muscled bulls and that was because the calf was a monster. Experienced, capable cows spit them out just fine.I believe double muscle calves get discounted.
Looks like he is a fast learner.Hopefully a herdbull for the next year. Getting some tips from his mom how he needs to aproach a woman, it seems today. 5 months old.
