I heard that popcorn was invented by the indians. They would stick an arrow in the end of the cob and hold it over the fire and it would pop right on the cob. Has anyone heard this, did this, or is it BS ?

That is what we were taught here as well ~ that the Natives discovered and cultivated popcorn. I don't know how they popped it though. You need to ask these questions earlier, and I would ask one. They are well taught regarding their culture. They are all sleeping though so maybe someone else will be able to tell us.

Last year, we bought some Indian corn for decorations, and we also bought these little ears of red corn called Strawberry corn. If you put the whole ear in the microwave you could watch it pop. It was messy but interesting for my students. I can't eat it anymore, but popcorn used to be one of my faves.
