I was wandering if anyone knew who is known for having some of the better polled hereford bulls for sale. I have some horned ones that are getting older and I may replace soon. I'd like to keep some heifers and don't want any horns or their offspring to have horns. Everyone says good polled bulls are harder find. I know this is a vague question as I need to go look at the bulls to see if I like them but there are so many breeders out there I don't know who to start with. Thanks for any help.

Where are you located? There are several reputable breeders on the board here. Just not sure which ones are close to you.

Yes Mr victor domino has really good bulls. I have been there twice and been impressed both times. Any particular features you are looking for in the polled bulls? Calving ease, growth, carcass, good feet/legs/udders?

I'm looking to keep heifers from these bulls...so a well rounded animal. Good growth, milk, etc... I've just always heard that the polled aren't as good animals as the horned and I'm sure the are some lesser polled ones out there so I want to look at the better polled ones that are just as good. Thanks

Yep, exactly what came to mind..

We run one of Danny's bulls and we've been very pleased.
I also have a mrvictordomino bull and have been extremely happy with his calves. I have been really impressed with this bulls prepotency. I have mostly longhorn cows and the calves from this bull are nice and thick. The bull is also very docile which I know is something Danny strives for.

Thanks. I had no idea there was such a good polled hereford breeder in Kentucky. I'll give him a call this week and see what he has.

Danny Miller is a class act. Good cattle and good people.

Knoll Crest Farm in Redhouse, VA has some nice Herefords. We're going to be in the market for a new herd bull this winter and will probably be a sale we'll take a look at. http://www.knollcrestfarm.com/ *EDIT: a nice thing about KCF is that they DNA test all their bulls so if horns are a big thing issue for you they can tell you if a bull is homozygous polled.

If you aren't concerned about distance we bought our last herd bull from Rausch Herefords in South Dakota who have both horned and polled Herefords. http://www.rauschherefords.com/ They are #1 in country for Hereford Dams of Distinction so they definitely have the maternal genetics if you are looking to breed for some replacement heifers.

Sandhill Farms in Kansas has some nice Polled Herefords. Them and Rausch use a lot of the same sires http://www.sandhillfarms.com/

If distance is not an issue for you I can probably throw some more names out there too but those are 3 programs that come to mind for Polled Herefords
