Polled Hereford Bulls

Help Support CattleToday:

what was this guy's weaning weight? I know Herefords are probably the most feed effiecient cattle

We raise beef for custom slaughter, and have found it easier to sell halves and wholes when we have smaller carcasses. We have 60 acres with only 30 in pasture (since we started crops about a decade ago). Smaller cattle makes sense for us. With that said, this bulls frame size caused me to pause. I did however like the way he appeared to be deep bodied and close to the ground. Our last bull was a huge old bull raised from our own stock, we are in much need of new genetics.

I always liked him, but there was some unresolved registration issues last time I heard about three years ago.

There was a 123 post a while back and the user said his calves were "too small"
I asked Kit Pharo why they don't sell many Herf bulls and he said the are so big it is very hard to find stock that fit his system.
I have a two 950# herfs that mother all day long and raise 500# calves so I may just have to AI them herf...
