Pneumonia?

I have a calf I think might have pneumonia. She was walking with her head hanging and was panting heavily with alot of slobber hanging out of her mouth after I caught her. She was also real weak looking before I caught her. I have since brought her and her Mom back to the house. She was given both a shot of Nuflor and LA 200. She seems to be doing better. Is there anything else than needs to be done? Is this a case of Pneumonia? Thanks in advance.

You can check her temperature with a rectal thermometer and listen to her lungs with a stethoscope. That will give you a better idea whether you are dealing with pneumonia or possibly poisioning.

Was the weather particularly hot and humid? These are classical signs that we see during the worst of July and August, they're fine early morning and late evening but look like they're about to die during the heat of the day. Since our weather has moderated some, lower humidity and temps only in the mid 80's all signs of stress have gone away. I'm not a fan of routine antibiotics, if not temp or obvious infection I let Ma Nature take it's course. Remember too, heat stress will elevate the body temp, best to take it early or late in the day.

It has been very hot and humid here. Upper 90's with high humidity. The first time I saw her(panting), I thought it may have been the heat but the day I went out and caught her it was right before dark and relativly cool. The calf has been acting sickly the past few weeks. I am happy to say however, that she is doing real well and is getting better every day. Thanks for the help.
