I live in Colorado and recently read an article in the New Holland News about this particular breed of cattle. I am trying to find someone in the Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, or Texas area with information. I need to know how well they do in high heat/drought areas etc. And was wondering if a commercial entity was butchering this breed and selling the products to consumers to try before they made a purchase. Thanks for helping me out.

Check out www.montanarange.com. They sell Piedmontese beef direct to consumers.

I was also interested in the breed and found the North American breed association at www.piedmontese-napa.com to be helpful. Also learned ALOT on this board and by asking questions. Do check into calving ease should this be a concern for you as it was for me. Good luck and happy researching!

Piedmontese have no problems with heat. They have sweat glands and dark pigmented skin. I've noticed them out grazing when my other cattle are in the shade. Georgetown Farms Va. Buys 1/2 blood feeder calves at a premium and its a premium that I think will make people take notice. They have a web site. search "piedmontese" The breed association for the U.S. is PAUS http://pauscattle.org/ Other buyers of Pied calves are Metcalf Farms Ill. & Montana Range
