Pictures of Cows and no grass

Help Support CattleToday:

Thanks Ron, it's interesting how we end up with the same type with different genetics.

I can attest, Raven's pastures look poor compared to normal years.
Most of his ladies look like they need a few weeks on "short grass". A bit overconditioned.

Down on the red river ? Yep, just a few miles off the red river. Lots of sand, mostly old peanut fields.

I vascilate between worrying about too much grass and not having enough grass. Someday I hope to conquer my mind. So far, it wins as often as I do but I'll whip that whining azzhole one of these days. Lol

If my old computer hadn't of crashed I could show West Texas 2011 after extreme hot summer of a 100 plus days of 100 plus temps. Most of those were 110 and more. The days we weren't a 100 we were 98-99 with a dry sw wind.

I'd show you what no grass really looks like

You can't blame a drought for what they have going on out there.

Overgrazing?

Wish I could share some with ya, our grass here is unbelievable right now. Couldn't say that last year during the drought though.

Here's a picture I took last week at the rig. The grass looks OK right here. That "road" on the other side of them is the runway at Midland Airport.

It takes lots of acres for a cow out there.
Which ain't a bad thing.
The problem is.
Say just for an example you can pay 10,000 per cow to buy land in other places.
That'd be 10 acres to a cow at 1000 an acre.
But the hunters are buying up west Texas and paying 1000-1200 an acre.
It take 20-30 acres for a cow and a lot of it 30 won't do that.
That puts your buy in at 30000 per cow or more.
But if I had the money for 10 or 20 sections I'd go to dickens county today
