Welcome Tenncattleman57,

Some real nice looking cattle. They do seem big and deep.

What kind of bull will they be calving to?

You sure have a lot of green still left in your pastures ! I'm way down in Louisiana and I'm envious of you.

With that cross, you should see some nice calves.

What type of grass do you grow there???

This time of the year here, the bermuda (the most common pasture grass) is starting to decline, and there is a gap between when the bermuda ends and the ryegrass (if you caught the rains right) begins.

TCM57,

O.k. everyone have a nice laugh on this. I'm taking a 14 part class given by the NCRS/USDA called "master cattleman". I gotta keep up on the latest, right? I'm the laughing stock of the other cattlemen around here now. Last week they showed us data on all types of bermuda.

TCM57, the reason that I post this is that for our area (south Louisiana) the common bermuda produced just as much forage as the "fancy" more expensive types. Not sure if that would hold true for Tenn., but since good seed is so expensive, it might be worth checking out.
