Brown snakes can get up to about 6 feet long. They are very quick and quite aggressive. They tend to like to stay in an area to breed.A baby brown snake say about a foot long is as venomous as a large one. Don't worry there not every where. We tend to get a few because we are up on a hill, have lots of poultry and water about in our garden, so they tend to stop off enroute to elsewhere. We have had no snakes into our yard since we began using our snake repellers.Cold and frosty here again tonight. down to 0 celcius already. Got to minus 6 this morning.

We might see about 5 or 6 during Spring Summer and Autumn. See a few dead ones on the road. Seldom see any when driving about the paddocks. I jumped out of our 4 wd drive one day near a clump of mat rush and felt something hit my leg (had jeans on), had quick look it was a black snake but it took of. Browns are more likely to have a go at you. Whereas a number of the snakes here in Australia that are venomous are get away from you. There is basically only the Brown and the Taipan that are aggressive. We have solar powered snake repellers stationed around our house yard and poultry pens. They emit an alarm every 35 seconds which sends a vibration through the ground. They work for 15 metres from its centre. They look just like a solar powered garden light. They have a battery down their column. The aluminium column is buried 2/3 rds of its length in the ground. They would be about 15 inches long before they are buried.
