So Bear is now 12 years old, a little over weight, and has a bum wheel. She still loves to work but is pretty much only good in the corral or small pastures. She has worked the big circle in the past but not anymore. So yesterday we picked up a Border Collie pup. She comes from a ranch in the Columbia Gorge. Her parents are both working dogs that gather cattle on steep rocky ground.
The pup doesn't have sit and stay down to a science yet. And Bear isn't too sure she cares for this pup being around.

Congratulations. Cute pup. Now to convince the old gal. ;-)
I'm in the same boat dog wise. Its the pits and especially if you're accustomed to relying on good dogs 24/7.
If your inclined would like to know more about the folks who bred your youngster. PM me. TIA.

Cute pup! Figured out a name yet?

Already had the name before we got the pup. Rufus. There is a little town in Oregon along the Columbia River named Rufus. I had previously told my wife that would be a good name for a dog. This dog came from the Washington side of the river not too far from Rufus.
