Here's some before pictures, one or 2 were posted elsewhere. The studs get shown on Saturday so I should have some nice photos (and hopefully ribbons). The carcass steers are shown on Sunday and sold on Monday. Unfortunately our little steer hasn't come up in fat cover, he'll still be there. Cross fingers for a miracle fat scan :lol2:

Junior red Gelb, photo from a while ago

Another junior Gelb bull, this photo doesn't do him justice. He's much more of the extreme type so he probably won't do so well. Depends on the judge!

The ET bull, which consequently Keren is leading.

The black heifer I'm leading. She's not square but you get the idea. Crossing fingers on this one

A more recent shot of the steer, shame he didn't come up in fat because his muscling is beautiful

I'm taking my proper camera to the show so don't worry, no more crappy phone pics :p

Good luck - keep us posted. Is the black heifer the Gelvieh you were referring to in the other post?

Yep, that's the one. Yours are more feminine but I find the deep, easy doing type similar. She ended up Reserve champion junior female, lost out to an older red one which many people disputed. The one Keren took won Champion junior bull and champion bull for the breed (turns out he's only 12mths old). Tomorrow he goes into the interbreed junior bull comp. The other 2 gelbs came second and third in the same class out of 5. The extreme bull came 3rd predictably.

I'm home tonight but I'll be back at the show tomorrow for a couple of days. I'll post pics when I get back (left my camera in my on-showground room).

Ok, I'm waiting for some 'dressed up' photos of the studs as I was prepping and handling so I couldn't take the photos. But these are from the show and also of some of our show steers. I've also added the pedigree links for Hillsdown and 3way.

Our steer Sam, he came in the top 5 for his heat but never placed. He only scanned at 2mm fat unfortunately. EMA of 103 however!

Pretty well all our steers scanned way below the required measurement, apparently we had a bad batch of feed which set them back a few weeks. Oh well! Got a few job offers and some show/sale work for next year so that should be fun. All in all a great show.

Congrats!!! I like your Gv heifer. Plenty clean up front & feminine - good deep body. Nit picking, I would like her longer fronted & a little heavier boned.
In your first pic of Braeside Eden, there are numbered "stalls". What is the "block" used for under the numbers?

Thanks Jeanne

They're optional feed bins. Most people bring their own feed bins but because we took about 20 animals we just went with the concrete ones supplied.

We're hoping to bring that heifer back next year with a calf. Also planning on bringing back the champion bull as a 2yo senior.

Thanks for the pictures and links. Call me crazy but I like the Eureaka calf a lot. I would like to see him a year from now after aome groceries.

I also like your heifer and agree with Jeanne's comments(as usual)

We do too. I'm actually more interested to see how Eureka grows out than Eagle. Maybe he'll return as a 2yo to the show also. FYI that black heifer was joined to the Eureka bull also. Should be interesting.
