Perennial Rye Grass

Can any variety of PRG grow and thrive as a yearly pasture in Mid Missouri?

I wouldn;t say it would tr=hrive but it sure grows good. Problem is that it doesn;t have much leaf, not much different then cheat grass, just grows taller

Lots of stuff I read Mo is too dry and hot and too cold without adequate snow for it to do well. Just trying to mastermind a mix to get planted in the next week or two. Any suggestions.

After dithering with a bunch of different grasses and combinaitons I've pretty well settled on fescue with clover. Have 27 acres of WSG, cows like it fine but it rapidly goes to stem and seed once it starts to grow very well. Cows don;t care for it when that happens.
