Pasture breeding vs. AI

Help Support CattleToday:

There are a number of reasons why a nomrally cycling animal doesn't settle when bred at the correct time. High temperatures, nutrition, poor genetics are probably the most common. There are also those that don;t ovulate at the expected time interval during a heat cycle.
With most of the synch programs 60% is about normal for conception. They may be convenient, but normal heat cycles are far more fertile and have a much higher conception rate on he first service.
There are also some animals that just won't settle to AI, maybe it's nerves or whatever. I've seen one in my life so I know it happens. But I think those are more likely the ovulation timing variations from what is considered the norm.
