Is it just me or is it the dealers I go to. If you have a major mechanic job to do on a tractor how long do you have to wait for parts. Case-IH tractor 1997 4230 model. It has been the shop now for a month waiting on a part. Excuse had to order from Europe. I told them on Wednesday to see if they could find an used part. Salvage dealer in Commerce says they should have one by Monday. Next Case, Rhino 15 foot shredder. Waiting on bearing for gear box. Been two weeks now. This goes on and on. Is this just a personal problem of mind or is it widespread.

Concerning the Rhino Cutter we stock the bearings and can cross them for you. These Rhino gearbox bearings are nothing special are available from many sources. You just have not contacted the correct person.

i agree the equipment dealers dont stock the hard to find parts anymore.an most things are made overseas.so it takes forever to get parts in.an farm conutry is slow anyway.thats why you always keep more than 2 tractors.so if 1 goes down your not down.

Part of the problem is also that the main company doesn;t have all of the spare partsin the US. They only bring in stuff when they have a large enough load to make it worth their while. Some companys only get a couple of shipments of parts a year. So it isn;t just the lag of getting the parts order to the actual manufaactuer it's getting them on a shipment that's bound for the states within the next couple of months.

Its a common enuff problem I have been waiting for 2 1/2 months for a guard(sheild) for my 8380 case mower conditioner.finally found out last week that Case,s main warehouse had rejected the part twice . Because it was painted hesston colors not case   . told them just get me the @!**@! part , I,ll paint it myself.

I get Massey parts in two days out of Atlanta. I get Bush Hog parts in two days out of Alabama. A few years back I ordered a hub for a Fort mower and it took 3 months. The Fort part had to be shipped from Italy.

Ya, Farm Trac has all the parts for the Fords now.

You lost me. I said Fort not Ford. Anyway, anyone who thinks the FarmTrac is the same stuff as the old Fords is sadly mistaken. New Holland is the source for Ford parts.

i was thinking the samething.farmtrac is just pateerned after the fords of the 70s.an if my memory is right the farmtracs are just longs new name.

Back in the 70's & 80's FarmTrac India was making some of the 2000/3000 tractors under contract with Ford based on Ford spec's. When Long returned with help from Escort India (holder of FarmTrac) they used the same factory (FarmTrac) as the old 2000/3000 Fords. I read somewhere that Escort purchased some rights from Ford to make some of the old Ford designed engines. I also believe since the Ford was a pretty popular tractor that India intentionally made theirs to look like the Fords of old. This too leads many to believe it is the old Ford resurrected.

Someone mentioned FarmTrac used Perkins engines. I contacted Perkins and they said NO they don't make engines for FarmTrac but if I look at the 8075 series it says Perkins power. I have also seen ads for the 7000 and 6000 series saying Ford engines. I guess this is the old Ford design. All other models seem to have the Daegu or Mitsubishi engines.

So all is as clear a mud still. All I know for certain is, many of those who have bought the 5000 series and below say they don't hold up to working everyday.

1948-2002
Long Manufacturing built its first tractor in 1948. The company, however, soon stopped building their own and began importing tractors from Uzina Tractorul Brasov (UTB) and some Landinis. Long filed for bankruptcy in 1985, but returned by 1987 after a reorganization. In 1998, Long Agribusiness was purchased by the Escort Group of India. The Long name was dropped in favor of the Farmtrac brand.

My mistake about the Fort and Ford... probably coming out of the same parts company though any ways.

Sorry but Farm Trac owns the pattons of Ford... Not NH. ;-)

My dealer buddy is now dealing Mahindra, Farm Trac, and Deutz. They all make parts for each other. A 85hp and 985hp Farm Trac is basically a Deutz. Duetz makes the shifter and stuff for the big JDs. Most of the parts are all mad eby the same place,,, every brand just sticks their own motor in their tractor.

The first tractors that I saw with the Long name on them came from the British Leland Factory. Same as the Nuffield but had a Long name on them. I owned one of them they were a pretty good tractor. I think that one of the Montana tractors is the same as a Farmtrac now. Also the smaller Farmtracs and Montanas are the same tractor. I think ironpeddler is a Fort Mower Dealer.

The article I read from a news release from Escort (who makes most of the junk tractors today) said they purchased the patents for a couple of engines (175,192, and 201 cubic inch) from Ford when Ford got out of the tractor business. This leads me to believe they didn't buy all the Ford tractor/parts patents. The smaller ones use the Daedong and Mitsubishi engines. They are also using Carraro from the clutch back.

A friend had a dealer sell him one saying it had a Ford engine. Upon getting it home he found the Mitsubishi emblem and manufacture plate on the engine. He loaded it up and took it back.

I personally would never own any of the aforementioned tractors including the Kubota and any that I am unable to pronounce.

Oh, and just for grins. Some folks are claiming you can buy new Ford replacement motors from FarmTrac for the old Fords. I am going to inquire and see if they have a 152 cubic inch for my 3400 Ford. Should be interesting.

YOu can,, go to a Farm Trac dealer. They can get you all the parts. I was talking about that with my buddy the other day because we have an old Ford 5000.

Jump on a smaller Farm Trac. It is al most identical to the old Fords. Even down to the gears always grinding.
