overfeeding

my 16 holsteins weigh between 220 and 300 lbs. i have been feeding them about 50 pounds a day of calf starter betweem them all 25 in the morn and 25 in the evening......is this too much? and also i just recently started feeding them this high protein feed anf i swithched them from one feed to the other should i have gradualy changed them over?.

No.. that sounds about right. 2 - 3 lbs a day, depending on the protein and fat ratio of the feed. If you're using a sweet feed, probably 8-12% protein, that should be good. Make sure they have plenty of good hay also
