The seller is probably a trader.
Don't offer him anything until you see them in person. They could be way smaller in person and not weigh what the guy says they do.

If you like the calves after you see them, ask the seller what he wants for them. They make your offer. You might be able to get them for less.

PS. Check the sale barn prices before you go so that you will have an idea of what you would spend for them if you bought them at auction.
