I was just wandering what some opinions were on the d-activated animal sterol thats added to some brands of cattle mineral mix, should a person worry about mad cow with this stuff. rws

A nutritionist I am not, but this is what I understand. Anyone is welcome to correct me if I am wrong on this. Deactivated animal sterol is a source of Vitamin D3. It is deavtivated by exposing it to UV light. Don't remember what gland or part it comes from to begin with. It's not a specified risk material. I don't think I would worry about BSE from it.

pretty much like Chuck said.

D3 is from animal, D2 is from plant.

Have you seen the cattle licking each other? The Vit D excretes it's self on to the hair. If they don't lick then they don't have much Vit D if they are covered with lick marks then they are excreting plenty.
