Don't you miss windmills? Every farm or ranch had at least one. In this part of the country the community water systems have just about done away with them. They're still all over the place in west Texas and I'm sure it's the same in the great plains and western Canada. I miss seeing them and hearing them. Not working on them.

Same here, Craig. Another thing that was great about old windmills is that the scissortails liked to nest on them; I loved watching those beautiful birds when I was a kid living on grandpa's farm all summer. Still see quite a few on the highlines when driving along country roads, but it's not quite the same.

We have 7 windmills on our place. They work great and as long as storms don't tear them up they are very economical.

i am kinda lucky in the windmill department - the fella north of me has a wind mill - in line with my view of MT Shasta (big ol mountain) - i am very thankful for his expenditure - wish i could afford to put one in

There are still alot of windmills here in Missouri.
We have a large Amish population.
I think I could live that life style....for about three days.
