Yeah, with seedstock, you always have to be on the cutting edge of some new trend, even if that trend is going in the wrong direction.

It is getting easier though. You are now seeing advertisements, even in the club calf world, where a bull is described as "moderate" and it means something positive. However, I know a few that seem to think if its not frame 7 it "has no growth".
 
I always remember an old pruebred breeders' statements: "Stay away from the extremes", and, "To get your weaning weights up, get your birth weights up, a good heifer can handle a good calf" It's worked for me. gs
 
The problem is that the term "moderate" isn;t a hard and fast specification. I saw some "moderate" Gelbviehs that were as tall as I was, 5'9" and other cows I saw touted as being moderate that were about a FS 4.
I think it's like beauty, moderate is in the eyes of the beholder.
