I love those old ads, is there more to the story? The Colorado Domino line rings a bell, but I just can't place it?
 
This is a classic example of almost ALL breeds of beef cattle (Hereford, Shorthorn, Angus) which were the predominate breeds 50 - 65 years ago. They ALL looked like this, and the photographers ALL positioned them the same way - standing belly deep in straw and at a 45 degree angle from the front. Phenotype was exactly the same, whatever breed was being shown! sooknortex, the only thing missing here is - we have NO idea what the Frame Score is of this bull! He could weigh 950 lbs, or 2500 lbs!! The only clue is the explanation says he is a ton bull.

You are right on target with this picture! Interesting historic stuff!

I think there was a painting done from this photograph.

Was he cow hocked in the painting too. :)
 
you can flat see how much herefords have changed in the last 90yrs.those hereford bulls look great in those pics.
