Old Hay?

Most of what I'm feeding right now has some mold on it - not my favorite stuff to feed, but it's what I have. 3rd crop alfalfa that was rained on. I'm figuring that as long as I give them free-choice, they can pick out the good stuff and leave the rest. I really don't want them being forced to eat the really moldy parts.

Yes. My cows actually preferred moldy hay. My father who raised cows for many years was mystified.

I've had the exact same experience. Two year old round bales that sat outside, and they ate them before the new stuff from the barn.
