My kind of man. I bet he was one heck of a good neighbor. May his reunion with family be a happy one. I bet he has at least one good dog, and probably more, waiting for him as well. May he rest in peace.

I spent winter of '76 in Waukegan/Chicago Ill area. I had never heard of the brand before that but Old Style as still pretty popular there then.
The obit sounds like it could fit a lot of people I have known, including a few from CT.

My in laws knew him and my aunt worked with him. Not far from me. Darn funny. Wish I'd of know him!
 
I don't know them but, the Schrandt family also has a talented obit writer in the family.
From the description, my wild guess would be it was written by his younger sister Becky.
He sounds like he would've appreciated the manner in which he was memorialized.
