Yikes. I don't consider CNN fake news but there has to be more behind that story. I have to believe she has a background of public misbehavior.

i don't hear her screaming.. yelling..anyting.. just making a statement on public property that her tax dollars pay for, making a point of what her tax dollars are going for.

they like to hold 'secret' meetings around here and approve this and that w/o letting anyone know.. then they come out and say.. 'well no one showed up so we must be doing a pretty good job'

You could tell she was mad and things were escalated but it looked like she left when asked. More could have happened in the few minutes before the video started. They may need to recind that pay raise to pay for the lawsuit.

They only show, what they want you to see...just like a lot of the others.. They show pics when they were cute innocent kids..so you will become enraged...

Morning news showed more video info.
At the school board meeting she stood up and asked why school superintendent was getting a 27% $30,000 raise
and the teachers got zero?

School board member running the meeting told her she was out of order and to sit down or leave.
She remained standing, but didn't say anything. Deputy who works security in the school was waved over to escort
her out. She compiled without a fuss... what happened out of view in the hallway remained unknown.

Superintendent interviewed today appeared remorseful and said he felt it was his fault.
That he wished he would have spoken up to address the question rather than just sitting there remaining silent.
He also defended the deputy as a good rational man and model employee.

I read the same thing Son of Butch.
I've been following it awhile..my kids went to school in that district years ago. . There have been several instances of people being vocal, with some being forced from those same meetings in that school district. Each time, men with something to say or protest were allowed to stay and speak their piece. Only women were asked or forced to leave.
This IS a govt/taxpayer funded school system and because of power sharing clause of US Constitution, this action by the school board very likely falls under denial of 1st amendment protection.

The school district superintendent has issued the following statement.
While emotional over the backlash, Puyau says he doesn't blame the deputy marshal who arrested Hargrave.

"I'm the superintendent, I'm to blame," he said. "I should have stood up, okay? That's what you want to hear and it's the truth, I should have stood up….Let her speak."

(I haven't watched the video of the arrest or handcuffing)

Because middle-aged middle school teachers are known for being lawbreakers?

That is not the premise of my statement.

I bet she has plenty of lawyers already calling wanting the case.
No doubt, and probably for free and I can't really blame her for signing one on either.
What's so bad about it tho, is the district's insurance carrier or the Parish's taxpayers are going to have pay the bill on it and it doesn't matter if the suit is filed against the school district or the parish or whoever the employer of the officer is..someone besides them is going to have to pay up the big buck$.

Our local superintendent gave himself a $30k raise also then less then a month later wanted to add extra tax to everyone's property tax to fund a new school they MIGHT build in the very far future. My fil raised a big stink and had petition signed to take it to a county wide vote. It didn't pass and the next year they just raised the school tax

When I heard the report on the news last night I though the teacher said she had not had a pay increase in 10 years. Maybe I misunderstood that. But then the superintendent got a $30,000 increase. The teacher is a former "teacher of the year".

She stood up for what she believes sincerely in. And because she did others might lose some of their narcissistic attitude.

I don't know that she has a case.... as far as I know what happened in the hallway out of view remains unexplained
and I haven't heard that she's claiming any damages. Mostly a big black eye for the school district's handling of policies.

The arrogance of the board president was extremely evident in the video when you review his body language and voice tone.

It doesn't sound like he (Fontana) has gotten one bit contrite since then either.

http://www.wafb.com/story/37238507/scho ... ttle-woman

Stoking the fire are remarks made by school board president Anthony Fontana, who told WAFB Hargrave was "the poor little woman" whom "everybody wants to side [with]."

SonofButch; I don't think damages are required in civil rights cases suits. Emotional distress tho, is probably plenty enough to get awarded some damage compensation $$ and the school district hit with a punitive action or ruling as well
