Obamacare - my story

Quite a few folks are happy with their insurance up north. But their the one's that have lived off the government for years during the winter. In the south obama care is hurting more folks than it's helping, we don't get unemployment in the winter because the river is froze over. I don't think the government has a right to tell me what to do. You can bet your last dollar, that the red state's don't get the benefits that the blue ones do. I hate liberals.
I am totally with you on this one.

I have medicare and am happy with it. My wife is 62 and retired on 1-1-14. She has preexisting conditions and if not for OC, could not find H/ ins. The OC that she bought has great coverages, with low deductibles and copay,,,much better than the policy that she had as a Missouri teacher.

Subsidy,,,I filled out the app back when the site was all screwed up and made a mistake on our income. I only counted the taxable retirement income, not Soc. sec and based on that income our premium was $94 per month. Two people filing jointly with less than $64.000 house whole income will get a subsidy i.e. lower premium. two people with $27,000 house whole income will pay $94. Two people with income above $64,000 will pay $650. I am not an expert and all of the above info is based on my situation of "two" person house whole and insurance coverage for "one" person. The subsidy is based on a sliding scale of income.

I know that all situations are different but for us we love her Obama care insurance. My four children have HI through their work and I have not heard complaints from them. My opinion about the controversies involving Obama care and most other political issues on the news is fired by the self serving extremist, both left and right. I've spent most of my life as a business owner or contractor and learned that there are very few things that are black or white. I consider the success of about everything from business to my 45 year marriage is based on compromise.

The taxpayer funded subsidy dropped it from $650, or more I guess if you income is more, to $94. So taxpayers like me pay 86% of your insurance.

I got hit by another 3.8% tax this year to fund Obamacare. So I'm paying for my insurance which totals out to around $7500 a year and I get to pay an additional tax to fund others. And I thought they promised my costs would go down.

I talked to a doctor a while back and he was telling me they had dropped the payment he would be receiving through Obama care to less than Medicaid. He said he will most likely stop taking Medicaid patients and those with Obama care. I've heard they are trying to lower the standards of health care professionals to take on more of these type patients. Rite-Aid, Walmart and a few other large outfits are really lobbying to begin taking patients and use Nurse Practitioners to do a lot of the work with possibly 30 NP under a doctor.

I imagine when Walmart starts offering health care prices willy surely go down.

That's going to give "cleanup on isle #3 " a whole new meaning!

The realistic and unfortunate thing is no matter what you do program and law wise not everyone is going to be happy or pleased
That being said Obamacare has not helped nor hurt my insurance.
Wait and see, It's not over till the fat lady sings.

That is no shyt I worked all my life and my Chevy plan is headed straight to a horse and buggy.
What PO's me even more was this plan was guaranteed in writing at the time of my retirement.
Then years later the country elect's a socialist sympathetic camel rider to office singing Big Rock Candy Mountain.
There is no free ride though some keep thinking there is, someone has to pay for all these people that are paying below cost.

If I remember correctly after my youngest was born we owed 700.00 and the insurance paid like 21k or something like that. I thought am really glad someone part of the C.T. forum has been helped by it.

I have my hospital bill from when I was born (1951). It was $100 and a few pennies. No where on the bill did it say anything was paid by an insurance company. But that was long before hospitals went from a community services to a for profit private hospital.

No you don't. Not anymore than you subsidize my Medicare coverage I paid for my entire working life.

Looking at taxes the way you view the affordable care act, the bottom taxpayers subsidize your taxes by hundreds of percents. Can't have it both ways.

YOu dam sure didn't see any compromise in Obamacare. It was rammed down our throats with not even those voting for it knowing what it contained, then it is mandated that you either get it, get your own policy that meets Obamacare standards or you get fined. Their are no compromises...only demands chiseled in stone !!

You'd be surprised how cheap you get somethign now if you simply say "patient pay...I have no insurance". But Obamacare will eliminate that too I'm afraid.

First point. Medicare you and I paid in - That part you got right. ACA is pure wealth redistribution. The insurance has a cost, and then it has a subsidy. The more you earn, the higher the insurance cost and the lower the subsidy, down to no subsidy for high earners. Low earners get high subsidies and higher earners pay for their insurance, plus pay the subsidy for the low earners.

Second point - I don't have a clue what you are trying to say.
