I know it is tough to dry. Any tips on cut timing for making dry hay? Should I expect to roll it?

Not tough to dry here I do alot of oat hay but always disappointed in the tonnage per acre until I started seeding 300# to the acre or more

With the rain in Minnesota this year we're already way too late on ours and still waiting for any dry spell.
Some years ya just have to take what you can get on account of the weather.

Sometimes I get lucky and can make dry oat hay. But more often than not I end up wrapping them because the weather and the oats aren't in sync as far as dough stage and warm dry weather at the same time.

If you don't cut it it won't dry. Ha ha. I would make the windrows as wide as possible and hope for a long window of dry weather. Usually we turn it over to dry on the other side before we take it together unless there is too much to take double, then just singe again.
