If we allowed poor doing bulls to be pulled, it would affect the total "competition' of the test.
The Index is:
30% x ADG Index
30% x WPDA Index
5% x Backfat Index
5% x Intramuscular Fat
30% x Adj 365 day ribeye area per 100# body weight
= FINAL INDEX
And they have to have at least a 95% index. Continentals compete seperate from British.
I came up with that formula years ago, and the committee agreed with it. It makes the test not just a horse race. It takes growth & carcass info into account.
