Nutsedge control

Help Support CattleToday:

The problem with any nutsedge or "nut grass" is killing the nut in the dirt. They multiply by sending out shoots underground where a new nut develops. Killing plant 1, doesn't also kill developing plant 2.

FYI: Nutsedge is the same as what we call "Coco Grass" here in south LA.

Call me crazy but I always thought that chufa and nutsedge were the same thing and considered to be real good forage.

It's is a good forage Azande also planted for wildlife. However, in turf, gardens, or hay fields it is a noxious weed.

Yes, leaves a 'barb' like shoot, that's why they say to never pull nutsedge, because you will spread it even faster. It's also like clover and other weed like plants, the more space they have the more it thrives. Good luck, it's a tough battle
