TOOTHACHE

My best friend that I grew up with and hunting partner is a dentist and he is plum giddy over the thought of me in his chair performing a root canal. There will of coarse be pay back. Just because he had a hognose in his sleeping bag isn't reason to be giddy over a root canal. Haven't had a dental problem in twenty years now I am walking around like a hound with ear canker.

Worst part of a root canal is the anticipation and dread. If you have an abcess and it really gets to hurting, a root canal is fun in comparison.
That is if you have a good dentist. If not, get another one. Voice of experience talking here.

BTW-If you put a snake in my sleeping bag--toothache would be the least of your worries.

Pack it with lie soap. You might want to get drunk first and don't use a body part to pack it. But the good thing with the lie soap will kill the nerve. I think you should know how bad it is going to hurt once the lie gets to the nerve.

I have never tried this but I have been told this a few times.

I have had three root canals. It isn't that bad. The toothache is way worse. The most painful part about it is when the deaden the nerve. That nearly made me jump out of the chair, but it is like when you first spray solarcaine on a sunburn. Hurts like mad then goes away quickly. I don't like it when the stick the files down in the canals to clean them. I have had them where it took several trips to finish. That's annoying, but it should only take one visit.

The most painful part is paying for it.

Hey, the root canal will give that abcess relief. The shot to numb you will be the worse part of it, ..... unless the root canal goes bad....3% of them do, I got that shirt. You do not want to know how they fix that.

PS. My spell check says I spelled abcess wrong????? How come?

That hurts me thinking about it.

Same here. Gives me flashbacks. I've never had a root canal, doubt it it would be possible since most of my original teeth are laying in pieces on the ground somewhere. Thank God for morphine and demorol. Spent lots of time in the dentist chair in a happy haze as they rebuilt my mouth but now I got a prettier smile than ever. Its amazing what they can do.

The root canals didn't bother so much. It's when they had to pull a tooth that was the worst. That crunching sound reverberates through your whole head :help:

forget the root canal.just have that tooth yanked out of there.its a heck of alot cheaper than dropping $1500 on a root canal.

I've had probably 10 root canals so far. If its a tooth with only one nerve canal, they say a normal dentist can do it, if its got more than one nerve canal, go to a specialist. You won't regret it. Last one I had done I went to a specialist, and she numbed me up almost to the point of scary, and had my mouth propped open, and a drape over my face, I'm not kidding I felt claustrophobic, but I did not feel any pain whatsoever. Even when I got home, I did take one pain pill but by the next day it did not hurt at all.

I have a firend who had a root canal done, and the dentist did not get all the nerve out, and she had to go back several times, before it was corrected. Now she really suffered, and it doesn't have to be that way if you go to someone who knows what they are doing.

Good luck

Ever had a crown removed after it has been "permanently" glued on? Takes the dental version of a hammer and chisel. I've never been punched up side the head before, but that's what it must feel like.

Yes I have had that done. They said I would not feel it(the tooth had a root canal on it) but I was kind of scared, it all worked out. I've had just about every kind of dental procedure done, except I still have my wisdom teeth. I had a crown and rootcanal on one of my front teeth, about 20 years ago, now that was kind of painful, the shots alone. Nothing like getting a shot in the roof of your mouth-yeehaw, fun fun.

I enjoy the dentist trying to hide the needle before he sticks it to ya.
It's nothing like that old bull trying to buffalo you, he's really going to do it.
Now don't that make you just feel warm and fuzzy all over.
Been there, done that a few times. Ain't so bad -------- in hind site.
Good luck

If my dentist doesn't pedal fast enough, the drill slows down.
Thats when the hurt starts, :help:
