Woke up at 3am with chest pains this morning. Tried some asprin waited, then tried some heartburn medicine waited, tried to get ready for work. Drug my butt to work and turned right around and went to the ER. Gave me nitro. Took that nasty chest pain away. Stress test in the morning. We will see from there. What a way to start a week!

Sounds like you responded in all the right ways Idylglade1. Wish you the best on the outcome of the stress test. Let us know how it turns out!

Hopefully its just a digestion problem/or a panic attack- its amazing how much pain they can cause.
Sending good vibes your way

Karen is right about those panic attacks!

Hope all goes well with the stress test. We're thinking about ya'.

i hope yall are right.but it sounds like she was getting ready to have a heart attack.so please keep that nitro close an dont stress or exart yourself.

Find a Dr you can trust and put yourself in his/hers hands.. sometimes angels wear stethoscopes. You'r gonna feel like you've been caught up in a tornado. But you will come out the other side.

idyl, You are doing right by caution. I'm thinking a false alarm. A very similar event happened to me a couple years ago, went though the stress test, Angiogram. [sp]
For sure I'm pulling for the best results for you. Keep us posted.

Let me guess ~ you got a smoking lecture from at least one Doc?? :help: Soon the busy season starts in our corner of the country, I'm glad you are getting this taken care of now. Let your boy and the hubby pick some slack up, and let us know how its going!

In March of 2006 I spent 5 days in the ER hooked up to an ecg and ,nitro patch and morphine. After a CT scan and a stress test, then a (can't remember the name) they put a camera down your throat and exam your esophagus. They finally figured it out, it was stress and ulcers that had been left untreated, the lining of my esoughagus was completely burned..

It was the most painful feeling I had ever had and I take an aspirin or any other reliever very rarely..Now I am on heavy medication to control the acid but in the end I get stressed or upset it flares up to the point where I am in pain 24 hours a day..Calving season is the worst time of the year for me.

Lets hope that this is all it is and that your heart is healthy,,let us know how everything went .You are in my thoughts as I know exactly what that pain feels like and it is excruciating..

On a side note that was the best rest I have every had, and morphine is a wonder drug.. :D

If yall have acid reflux, here are some things that may,MAY, help...First,no caffeine in any form past 12:00 noon. No acidic foods after noon(tomatoes in any form,oj,) No carbonated drinks after noon..I'm afraid the no carbonation may include beer....
Raise the head of the bed,or sleep propped up on pillows. Eat lightly for supper..Eat what you like for lunch/dinner/the noon meal
you should experiment to see what works for you, keep a food diary to see what hurts you...everyone is different, this has worked for me. Salad for supper is a big no-no for me,fine for others.

Survived the stress test! Whew I am exhausted. They couldn't get my heart rate to 180bpm like they wanted. I lasted 20 some mins and I think I climbed Kilimanjaro! They are sending my results to a heart specialist group at Abbott, the same group my mother sees. Ang, no I did not get the smoker's lecture. They said more genetics playing a part, smoking doesn't help, but my mom and grandmother both had heart attacks at 40 something, mother had quad by-pass late 50's same with her brother. Should hear something this week. Feeling pretty good. Did chores last nite and went up and helped Vet, she was bogged down and needed some help till 8:30pm. Thanks guys I will keep you informed!

If you have any siblings, if you haven;t already given them a heads up you should do it.

Got a call from the Dr last night. Said It is probable that I was on the down side of a heart attack by the time I came in, and with the Nitro helping he is positive that is what was happening. But that I have a very strong heart very little damage, in fact they really could not tell from where I had that pic line poking my heart to this. So really no new damage. They want me to continue with a cardiologist because of my genetics, keep taking an asprin a day and keep the nitro in my pocket in case. Other than that I have a good strong heart! I could have told him that, when he called I was shoveling a 2 foot drift of snow from the garage door! Thanks everyone!

from the way you was talking i figured that you had a mild heart attack.so you didnt have any clogged arties.

Ditto on hearing the OK signal.
