This morning at the end of our church service, a young man that graduated from high school last spring and joined the marines was home on leave and was part of a flag ceremony. He went forward to present "battle flags" (American flags that have flown over battle fields in Afghanistan or Iraq) to the family of one of our members that is serving in Afghanistan.

Our Hero came in unannounced and surprised his wife, young daughter and his mother-in-law. He then proceeded to present a battle flag to each one of them. Needless to say, there weren't any dry eyes after witnessing the reunion of a soldier and his family. I just pray to God that his family will NEVER have to have a single flag presented to them.

We see these reunions on TV and know what is going to happen but when you see one that is a total surprise to everyone it is an emotional experience.

The young man that just joined the marines is a really good kid and seems to know what he wants from life. He made all of us proud when he showed up this morning in his dress blues this morning. It was cool to see his little brother with him also, those two guys are like two peas in a pod.
