Just got done talkin with my grandpa and he's buying some Northern feeder calves to feed out this summer. What do you know about how Northern and Southern cattle compare meeting half way in North Central Kansas. Thanks Jake

In general, Northern cattle will adapt better to the South than vice versa. However, during the summer, if it is particularly hot, the Northern cattle might have some heat stress.

Also generally speaking, the Northern cattle will be higher gaining if not affected by the heat.

Of course, you can get some poor Northern cattle, and some exceptional Southern cattle, in which case the better cattle will do better.

As always, there is no definate answer.
