Been trying to figure out how to provide protein supplements for cattle. With our USDA approved Grass Fed Program we cannot provide supplements with a lot of Urea protein source. Additionally, no supplements (minerals or otherwise) can contain any grain based products (and obviously no animal bi-products). Cottonseed product is also off limits for us.

Anyone have any ideas? We'd like to have a mineral supplement tub with at least 10 to 15% CP for use during dormant pasture seasons.

Thanks...

Well, soybean is not a grain. It is a bean (legume). And I will add I don't know the rules.

Only other thing I can think of is some of that expensive to grow, high protien hay.

When the grass gets short or cruddy around here I start using good hay to supplement the bad grass or stretch what I have. On the other hand, when I have oats to graze in the winter, I feed the cruddy hay as a filler to stretch the oats. Balancing act between the two sources of forage.
