I had thought it was the quality of the programming, and it still might be a contributing factor. However, I had the TV on for about 10 minutes and couldn't stand any more of it this morning.

I turned the TV on. Saw about 2 minutes of program, program went to commercial for about 4 minutes, program came back up for about 90 seconds, station went to commercial again at which point I turned the TV back off about 3 minutes into the 2nd commercial run in less than 10 minutes.

Who has TV anymore?

Not only the advertisement, but some of the advertisements are so bad I have to turn the volume down or switch channels until they are off. Everything is marketed to a certain crowd. I try to watch the news, and they target old folks then. After seeing all those meds and the side effects I can't hardly watch the news. I know I could record it and take the advertising out, but I just soon not watch as do that.

It's something that never gets talked about but how much of the cost of products is tied to TV commercials. It has to be a significant part of inflation. Look at what the big news networks pay the show host and it's easy to see that it cost a fortune to advertise. The sports contracts the networks pay is out of control too.

We use a Roku. If I try to watch something I will be asleep in 15 minutes.

All the homosexual stuff on every single program or movie really turns me off. It's ridiculous. To each their own, just don't rub my face in it all the time
Yeah, I'm not opposed to gay people being happy with each other, but I don't want to see two guys kissing. And it seems like every new program is now some kind of female lead, proving how capable they are and the guys in the show being the butt of any jokes. I've seen it in advertising too, that if someone is going to be made to look silly it's always a guy. Flo was funny in the Progressive commercials but it wasn't politically correct to have a woman looking stupid so they hired a guy to be the butt.

i'll sometimes download youtube vids and burn them to a dvd. then watch it on the tv.

The wife hits the mute button every time a commercial comes on. Then goes to doing something on her tablet and forgets to turn the sound back on when the commercial is over. I don't know which is more irritating the commercials or my wife with the controls.
Well, with the commercials muted, they aren't irritating you any more. However, this process your wife is doing ends up making you miss a good portion of the program. I don'[t blame or fault your wife. There are too many commercials to manage. That is part of my point. With so many commercials to have to try to deal with, trying to watch television really isn't worth it much of the time any more. It's no longer entertaining nor relaxing.
