Picked up a few acres of rented hay ground yesterday, got to work this morning turning it over. If I hurry it will make an oat crop for green feed this year. Nice soil, but it hasn't been worked for about 30 years so it's time.

Great looking job of plowing. And it is nice looking soil. Get your oats in quick. You wouldn't believe how much nitrate is released by a freshly plowed sod. Not enough to be dangerous but it will sure make the oats jump out of the ground.

Yeah Murray you are thinking the same as I. "Your plowing up that". I would be baling what is there.

I've been baling this field on shares for several years. Believe me, the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Add to that that the field is so rough it beats you to death at 4.5 mph. It is years overdue for the plow.
