Thinking of buying a new shorthorn herdsire at auction the one i pick out has good pedigree and exellent epd but is bad color half white half red [not roan] any thoughts to what offspring will color if bred to pb red or roan shorthorn? Thanks Tamarack

They will be the color shorthorns are supposed to be. Post a pic of bull please.

ga.prime pretty much summed it up. It on what genes the cows are carrying. The spotting gene is recessive, so it takes 2 genes to have a spotted calf. Roan is dominant so it only takes 1 gene to have a roan calf.
