New Heifer

She was born yesterday at 5:30 pm. She was on her feet in 10 - 15 minutes and nursing with in 45 minutes, Weights about 45 - 50 lbs. I check on them every hour and it seemed she was nursing good. Actually she was nursing every time I check on them. This morning she is up and running around but when she goes to nurse it is like she is not getting anything. I assume that she has been getting milk or she would not have the energy to run around and play this morning. Any thoughts?

I will post pictures as soon as the batteries charge up for the camera.

If the cow will let you, go right up to her and see if she's got any milk...or just keep watching closely. The calf will probably have milk on her face after nursing. If she's not making any milk, get a nurse cow or bottle feed the calf. But I would think that she's gotten something if she's running around and active.

Congrats! I had lots due, but only 1 calves on Valentine's and it was a bull.
