New bull : fire away !

Son bought this big guy to put on the Hereford cows and our commercial gals . Registered Brangus, he'll be 3 late fall . If we like his calves we'll breed him to a group of our angus cows next year .
That red LH or Corr in the back ground...did she get bred to that bull? If so what kinda calf did she have? Black and polled I am sure.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't been up to the other farm to check the Hereford cows . Keeping an eye on these heifers , putting out fertilizer, mowing my yards that I mow for folks , have kept me busy . Rain in the morning so I'll go up to check the girls .

First Hereford'/ brangus calf on the ground. I didn't see it but the land owner has seen it . She had it hid and with the rain coming I didn't do a major hide and seek game with her . Solid black he said . Hope he doesn't take all the white faces off his calves !

First thing my son looks at . He did have a small corn on a front foot , but it didn't seem to bother him . At 3 we are looking at 3-4 years out of him .
Corns bothers me as well. Bought a new bull for the year and the same deal. Is it because they had him in a feed lot? I don't know. They claimed the one I bought was raised on fescue and then you show up to sale day and the local feed dealer is there and they have feed in the bunks.

Last brangus calf . Sure did want a heifer out of this good momma. Out of 7-8 calves she's only had 1 heifer .View attachment 57093

That sounds like my luck! My 20 year old "pet" only had two heifers, 2022 and 2024; we kept them both as momma always calved at the begining of the season AND raised the best steer in the pasture.

Really nice mommas and babies!!!!
