I have a calf that was born at around 0630 am, wasn't there for the birth. It can not stand or even lift it's head, we have feed it by hand and if you do touch it does apears to have feeling. At this time it can't even lift it's head and never could, have never seen this or my dad in over 50 years with cattle, any ideas.

Sorry to hear that. It could be a number of things. Was it born premature, or really small? It could have been stepped on possibly. We're you able to get some colostrum in it?

My first idea would be to give it a shot of Selenium.. I think some of you folk call it BoSe or MuSe. I wouldn't know what to suggest other than that.. Keep us posted.. And welcome!

I agree with Nesi about giving the Selenium. First thing that I do.
In addition to AJs questions, how did you feed it? Does it have a suck reflex?

The calf was not premature an is a good size calf, I wil give your responses a try, thanks for all your posts.
