New barn time

Help Support CattleToday:

Curious about the red 3-sided shed. Was that just moved to location for storage during construction?
@Lucky is your barn for horses?
Not necessarily for horses but figured since we have a couple might as well add 2 horse stalls while building it. The barn will mainly be used as a sick pen or holding pen. We've been using a sick pen at the corrals but do not have power or water to them. We still need to build a tack room to finish it up.

Never and I mean never pay anything up front. If they are good and reputable they have accounts at building material places and you can give them a draw as you see fit
I agree with never paying up front. We have a really good steel supplier here that will help building design and material list. Because of this we always buy the materials then pay a contractor to construct the building. They generally want half at framing completion and final payment at building completion. The contractors seem to like doing this and it makes the bidding process super quick. I've been using the same concrete guy for 20 yrs now, he's getting older and I hate the idea of finding someone new.

I like building projects so I was curious about the difference in price between a good company built shop and what I could do on my own. For a 24 X 24 pole barn without a floor or any electric they quoted me 20K. I figure it would have taken about a week.

I did it myself for 12K with a concrete floor done by paid help and a professional electrician paid to do the wiring.

Hope to see how you finish the inside out. I'm not sure which is worse, the cold not cold muddy winters we have or the frozen ones y'all have.
