I have 3 pregnant registered cows, one bull, one yearling heffer, one cow with 1 month old calf. All are registered pinzgauer, but the calf is out of a charlolais/pinzgauer cross. Are there any pinzgauer breeders out there that have experience with cross breeding pinzgauers. I am considering the use of an Angus bull with my pinzgauer herd.

Hi Barbara,
Have you considered a Murray Grey Bull for easy calving, quick growth and excellent carcass quality? The bull pictured here throws 70-80# calves that consistantly wean off at 182 days at (bulls) 600# + (heifers) 500# + off pasture with no grain for calves or mommas. We never pulled any of his calves.
Just another avenue to explore,
Darla *.~
A good Angus bull would be a good choice for crossbreeding. Angus sired calves are are popular at the sale barn and in the feedlot. In my area, anything with spots is discounted. Angus would likely give you solid black calves. Look for one with good EPDs. Good luck...
