Calf is six weeks old. Orphaned at 2 weeks. Still taking bucket milk but seems to prefer pre-con feed. Hoping my pics post correctly. This is first time posting pics. Would you be concerned with hanging naval skin. Calf has Brahma in her blood.

Guess that didn't work! Try this one.

Hard to tell from the angle, but are you worried it has a hernia? If not, she's perfectly normal.

From what I can see of the photo there seems to be a thick tube of tissue through the skin which is probably the remnants of the cord but a fair bit enlarged. I think you should get it checked out. She may have had a urachis that didn't seal off and urine leaks into the cord causing inflammation which can lead to infection.
That loose skin is certainly a bit more than just Brahman influence, especially when you look at the rest of her.

That naval is not the results of Brahman influence , something is not right

Not saying it is one of course, but one of my neighbors had one born with an enlarged navel similar to that. Was a freemartin twin but guess your's wasn't a twin since you didn't mention it.

GB, it's funny that you mentioned that because I have reason to suspect that this cow had a another calf before this one was born. I was never able to find it but she was acting strange like she had left a calf hidden when she came up to the barn. I considered she may turn out to be a freemartin. Guess she will get shipped after a little more feed.

Thanks to all for their comments.

Even if it is freemartin, you can always put it in your own freezer. It's my understanding, that they grow similar to a steer, but the downside is keeping and feeding them to weaning before you decide to blood test or ship. The probe or tube test is not always reliable--the calf can have most of it's "parts" and still be freemartin.

If that hard core will push back up into her body, it's a hernia and will need to be fixed surgically. Otherwise it's an infected cord and she needs an antibiotic. I would guess the latter. That's been my experience, anyhow.
