Need ideas for a hay feeder

I am looking for ideas for some type of covered hay feeder that can hold 2 4X4 or 4X5 rolls. I want it to be covered to stay dry and up off the ground so the cows don't stomp as much of the hay in the ground. Any thoughts?

Have you considered a feed wagon or heavy duty stationary feeder? I've never seen one that's covered however.

I havn't looked into that. The idea came from a friend of mine that suggested a covered feeder with a door on each end to load the bales through. Seems like a good idea if it is feasible

Seems like anything with a cover might be a pain to work around with your tractor's front end loader.

True. I was just thinking the longer hay stays dry the better off I would be.

True enough. You got me to thinking about how to rig a cover for a hay wagon myself.

I ran across some poly feeders a while back that you put over the top of a bale. It looked like a big doghouse with windows on each side for access to the hay. I think they were made for horses and I don't remember the cost but with a little time I'm sure you could find it with google. It would probably work fine if someone only had a few head.
