Need electric fence help

Help Support CattleToday:

His is a "field guardian" brand. It supposedly checks voltage, joules, and is a fault finder. He said he thinks he paid about $120 for it a couple years ago.

They are $99.95 now.

btw, joules cannot be directly measured like amps and volts can be. Joules is a measure of energy and must be calculated mathematically using a measure of volts, coulombs and time. The unit in question uses a 200 ohm resistor to get the measured voltage down to an easily worked value then uses a little microprocessor (tiny computer) to convert the readings to coulombs, then to joules. It has to have the resistor to drop the extremely high voltage down to prevent burning up the electronic components on the microprocessor.

The 200 ohm resister (Part No 660085) is required to to test joules.

Seems it needs an extra pert to test Joules? Nothing on web site about the part or cost? Depending on the cost might be worth it.

I edited my post to add information about the resistor. I assume the resistor comes with the tester, but they are available separately. pretty cheap.

That's the one! His resistor looked a little different but otherwise that's it. He has sheep and uses the electric net to confine/rotate them, and he surely has quite a bit of trouble with it. He's always messing with it.
