I've got a neighbor that is either going to lease or buy a Red Angus bull. He wants to use the bull over commercial cows and keep some heifers. I need to know what bulls shoudl be avoided(I think Cherokee Canyon is one), and if there are any good breeders that you know of in the Middle Tennessee/Northern Alabama area.

Thanks

I may have looked at it wrong but is that bull one Teddy Gentry raised and it shows a TNT red angus as the current owner? It also shows TNT as being in Mentone AL which is a few minutes south of Teddy's farm.

I dont know these folks personally but I have heard that they raise some really good stock. They are located in Pulaski, TN. I believe Rustler9 is from down that way and he may know more about these folks....

Carefully check out "BRG" for good Red Angus. He is a regular poster on CattleToday.

I feel that we should INVESTIGATE our friends and fellow breeders before IGNORING them!
Sometimes we are too close to the forest to be able to see the trees!

Thanks Doc - very nice of you!!!

On shipping a bull - we will get it to you at cost. The first $300 miles are free if the bull cost $2000 or more. We also try to put the bull/heifer on a trailor with other cattle going that way from other breeders in our area to try to cheapen up the shipping costs. Their ussually are cattle heading south, so finding a ride shouldn't be that hard.

Plus we are from SD not ND so it would be closer yet. :)

I wouldn't think of ignoring anyone, just so long as they are within two hours of my neighbors house, which is as far as he wants to drive. Plus he likes to look at the bulls in person before buying.

BTW, they are some nice looking cattle BRG.

I stand corrected.

One thing I will have to say about Brian (BRG) is he really tries to help. He is trying to get me 35-40 heifers from SD to VA in October. He is great to deal with.

Yes BTF 037 is a Teddy Gentry Bull I love the BB bred cattle.
