Narrow angle trail cam

Help Support CattleToday:

It can appear that you are being nit-picked but it's actually nice because they are giving you options.

So I have about 10 cameras, $100 a year each, unlimited pics. It's $5 for 50 HD pics and like $5 for 50 videos. This time of year I might request 50 of each every 2 months, then I go months with out requesting any. I may spend $50 total, on high side, all year long.

With other brands you may get higher quality pics all the time but the base data palns are $120+.

They would cost me quite a bit more and I really don't need an HD photo of a squirrel, or branch blowing, or cow at a water trough. 😄 I like being able to choose the "extras" vs being forced to pay for some thing I don't need. I also like how it keeps count and tells you exactly how many you are at.

There are much better quality cameras out there than Tactacam. They are $600 for the cam and require a $190 data package. They are awesome but come at a price.

The pro plan with Tactacam is the same price as the top plan I have for my Stealth cameras, $120/year for the first camera. I have two of each. If I didn't have the Stealth cameras, I would be plenty happy with the Tactacams. But I do, and honestly, I won't buy any more Tactacams unless they improve their app and entire "system". I can live with the nickel diming for everything (everything Tactacam charges extra for is free with Stealth). But their app is horrible when compared with Stealths. Its almost unusable after a while. Deleting unwanted pics takes a bizarre amount of my time each week. Not to mention having to use the app for some changes, but create another account on a different website to make other changes. The Stealth cams also use less batteries. I still like the Tactacams, the camera quality is good and pics quality is as well. But the app just sucks compared to others.

It's $120 for 1st camera, $96 for every addition with Tactacam. I pay $96 for the other 9 on the pro plan. You should be paying $120 and $96.

Does Stealth Cam do discounts for multiple cameras?

I make all my changes for tactacam on the app. Not sure what you have to do on another site? Have you done the app update?

My buddy had Stealth Cam and the pics on the app show up a lit more clear on the app. I've heard Weise Eye is really nice also.

Problem is this is by a major highway, and everyone is at least half hour away, so real time pics are probably still not going to be useful.

if you have a 5mp image on a 120* field of view you're going to have WAY less detail than the same 5mp on a 60* FOV, hence my desire for a narrower FOV

To start with, if we at least can know who it is, what time they like coming around, etc, that would be a good start

We got the equipment for digging very deep holes

Okay I know the comment about using something like "blinkers" aka "blinders" like they use on horse probably sounded bizarre/off topic.
But "blinkers" limit the field of vision. Its seems you should be able to figure out a way to physically narrow any cameras
field of vision.

Yeah, Stealth does a similar discount for multiple cameras. They have several tiers, 2nd camera is $x, 3-7 cameras is a little cheaper, and after that a little cheaper yet. I can't recall all the prices.
Tactacam no longer lets you create an account or make plan changes on the app, you have to visit a different website all together to do that. If I remember right, it wasn't that way when I bought my first one, but now it is. If I check my plan on the app and click the "change plan" button they give you, this is what it says below. So to get my son started on his, I had to download the app on his phone, then go to the other website on my laptop and create his account, then go back to the app on his phone and activate everything. Any plan changes have to be done on the website, but any camera settings have to be done on the app. It's bizarre.

That's just going to show you the blinders on each side of the picture. The lens determines the field of view.

That is true.

Only issue I have is the plastic lens over the motion sensor gets broke out by birds at one place. It's aggravating and I have asked for a solution. They will give you a pile of them to change yourself or you can send the camera in. It's pia to get to them and the birds break them out in 2wks again.

What sort of birds do that? We don't have that issue here, that I know of at least. Some squirrel damage occasionally but not often.
Would something like a sun shade for a rifle scope help? Maybe not as long. Thinking maybe it would prevent their beak from reaching the cover.

Some people were saying they get woodpeckers that do it. Ours are these bright green and yellow birds.

... or it's those Chinese drone birds 🤣

It's only at one place for us. I'm not sure if it's the way they are set up or what. They are on the tall, high fence, tposts and basically look just like bird house on a pole. 😄 The lower ones or ones in trees don't have never as many issues.

Could they be seeing their reflection in the lense? One place i park my cattle truck a bird fights itself in my mirror. Only the 1 place does that happen.

They do make dual lens trail cameras with and standard regular field of vision lens, plus either a 4x or 6x telephoto lens.

More day and night. Hard to say which one of these is best for night. These are all <$100 cameras and not cellular capable.
These were several years ago. Now that the kids are all grown and moved out, I'm not as enthusiastic about setting up and checking cameras. Me and my wife check them about once a week, but we only have two set up. Kids used to keep 8 or 10 out year round. We have one photo of a mountain lion, somewhere on this old flash drive.

To prevent bird damage, cut a short piece of PVC pipe maybe 1" long, place it centered over the camera lense opening, and glue it in place.
To get alot of information, camera reviews etc, check out trailcampro.com or call them with your questions. They are very helpful.

I have about 10 spypoint cell cameras and I really like them. They have different ones from $50 and up. They also sell an adapter deal for $20 to put in existing camera if you have one that will send the pics to your phone. Up to 100 pics/month free no subscription necessary, beyond that I think you have to pay $5/month for 250 pics. These pics are both from the cheaper models, and the quality if i go pull the card is better this is just what gets sent to phone.

I'm looking for a narrow angle trail cam, preferably available on Amazon. Doesn't need to be expensive and have a lot of bells and whistles. I've tried searching Amazon til I was blue in the face but I only get 120 and 130 degree angles..
Need to get clear pics at about 100ft distance. I'm not taking pics of wildlife

Have them for security work great.
You get notified on your phone when it takes a picture.
I use them on my hog traps as well.

I looked it up and the earliest I could get that model was about christmas, there was one used one and I'd only see that one mid february... Then I looked up the LM2 on Amazon Canada and it was like $50 more (after exchange rate). .($149 CAD)
I ended up getting the Spypoint Flex G36, which seems to be a better camera, and it was the same price.. I'll probably take one of our digging machines and climb up the boom, mount the camera up about 20 ft. I might cover the lenses with masking tape and paint it flat black, we're working in a forest fire area and all the trees are black

Gonna be hard to see a black camera on a tree here 1733527040705.png
