Hey Alice did you anything about Texas voting on gambling ? I heard on the news the other night that maybe so. That's one thing that I do not understand about Texas. Let there be casino's . For crying out loud most of the people in Lousianna that I talked to were from Texas.
It is fun........

Too dam many baptist. They drink and gamble too but want to keep it out in Okla. and Louisiana. I guess they figure if nobody sees them it ain't a sin. I look at it as "stimulus".

You need more rivers in Texas. Gambling isn't a sin if it is done on a riverboat. You may have trouble finding that in the bible, but the Indiana legislature has accepted this truth. At French Lick, they don't have a river so they dug a big pit and filled it with water.

You think Texas is screwed up? Consider Arkansas....

Dog Track in West Memphis allows wagering
Horse Track in Hot Springs allows wagering
Games of strategy in Hot Springs
No riverboat gambling
No lottery
Many counties are dry but have boo-coos of drug stores
Many, many churches..one around every corner
Churches are jam packed on Sunday morning, night and Wednesday night

Thank God for Mississippi and they are expected to pass Arkansas in every category soon

With a name like "French Lick" you just know they will figure out a way. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

HFS first time I spent a night in Ft. Smith I went to a convenience store full of cold beer but a chain ran thru all the door handles to keep them locked. No beer on Sunday....had to drive across the river to Oklahoma. One big beer joint over there and it looked like a drive in theater.

The catch is....lower alcohol content in Oklahoma beer because of the native American Indians.
But Oklahoma leads the nation in American Indian casinos... http://500nations.com/news/Oklahoma/20080825.asp
Not saying thats a good thing, because if you think about it, there is ALOT of money going into those casinos that could be going into the economy. You wouldnt believe the number of indebtedness claims that have jumped since those casinos came into this state.

They don't have to pay taxes either if what I hear is true. I went to a couple in your neck of the woods close to Fort Smith across the border. Most everyone I spoke with say their casinos are looser but the are tier two machines.

Years ago, one of my daughter's friends was the daughter of an Anthropology professor at the local college.
He spent a summer in Oklahoma doing research on a group of Native Americans, to determine if they were a separate and distinct "tribe". That puzzled me no end, until the lightbulb came on. CASINO!
And discount cigs.
What a country! A tribe can be persecuted, robbed of their homes, murdered, and 150 years later their survivors get a casino. Tax free. I have a headache, I'm going to go lay down.
