My aunt dealt with this problem for years. Went to every doctor all over the country. She too had crystals (rocks) in her ear. A massage therapist treated for them after she told her her symptoms. You might want to check into the ear crystals. You don't have anything to loose...not drugs and time is your only investment. Below is an article on this condition.

That's pretty fascinating, I gotta say. The human body is so amazing.

Do you drink enough water on a daily basis? or do you drink lots of soda?;

This is not meant as medical advice, only as suggestions, so discuss any/all concerns with your doctor. Don't want you to think MoGal is trying to poison you.

Has anyone checked for a magnesium deficiency? It is said, 70-80% of americans are magnesium deficient. I watch "Your Health with Dr. Becker" and they had a lady on there not too long ago and this is what she was saying. She also said, the most efficient lab test for mag deficiency is a 24 hour loading magnesium test (whatever that is).... IF you determine you are lacking mag, do NOT take mag oxide as only 4% is absorbed in the body, magnesium sulfate or magnesium citrate is easier absorbed by the body. Magnesium oxide should only be taken if you are constipated (it helps that the most)

Any flouride poisoning?? Our government mandated that many cities have to increase or begin flouride treatment in the water in 2010 even though its toxic and causes many illnesses. Hitler flouridated the Germans during his reign. Any metal toxins cling to flouride and settles in the brain (from what search I've done).

here's an article for vertigo or menierres and you could possibly do a search for any other symptoms as well...... I found it interesting Ted recommended 1000 mg vit c and alpha lipoic acid to cure it.........

I know you said you take vitamins but are they they chelated vitamins? So many of them are worthless.... if you take a pill (not capsule) put it in a glass of water and if it does not dissolve in 15 minutes then it does not dissolve in your stomach either and is passed thru.... without absorption.

When you see the cardiologist, ask them about blockage in your carotid arteries.

Possibly your body is too acidic and the cheapest method is to take a 1/2 tsp baking soda in a 6 oz glass of water two or three times per week. But that's what I use for any upset stomach.

I wonder also if turmeric (1/4 tsp to 1/2 tsp in about six oz of warm water and add just a pinch of pepper) would help during a dizzy spell..... I know sounds strange but the pepper increases the properties of turmeric. Turmeric has many healing properties and its not something that is used much in the US (except in dressing during the holidays).

I just had a random thought, would any vision problems cause vertigo? I know that sometimes it causes headaches.

Go to the Doc Oz site. (Do you get the show there?) Tell him/them about what's going on. You may be lucky enough to get on the show. That would mean top of the line Doctors finding out what's wrong. If they don't pick you, what have you lost? Just a bit of time typeing. Try everything. I wish you the best..

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to go try that with my vitamin after I finish typing this, then I am going to go write to Dr. Oz. I already wrote to The Doctors and Dr. Donahue but didn't hear back (big surprise). Never heard of the tumeric trick either but hell, what have I got to lose at this point. A friend's ma is an herbalist and she has given me some remedies that she says will make me feel better, and I don't doubt her, she is world renowned. Don't get me wrong, I want to feel better more than anything but I also want to know WHAT and WHY. Thank you all for taking an interest in me, I am popular for the first time in my life (other than among the cows of course) :cboy: :tiphat:

I had a couple bouts of vertigo lasting several weeks that always seemed to occur a month or 2 after having a cold. The last time it happened I ended up in a walk-in clinic to treat a cough and was given augmentin for a sinus infection (that my ENT didn't seem to think was important). Within 1 1/2 days, I was 100% better. No more world spinning!! Good luck on your treatment - vertigo is no fun.

Do you drink any diet drinks? My wife had some serious problems a few years ago, and she eliminated them by stopping the diet drinks. Don't think it takes a lot, either. My wife did not average one can a day. As little as a half stick of gum containing aspartame was enough to trigger a migraine for her. We found that out after she chewed a half stick and got a migraine, then realized it contained aspartame. The friend who alerted us to the possibility suffered stroke like symptoms, and temporary blindness before he figured out the cause of his problems. We have since passed along our experience to a couple of people on a forestry forum I frequent, and they greatly improved their health. It may not have anything to do with your situation, but I would advise you make sure you are not consuming aspartame in any form and see if it helps.

How long after your wife stopped consuming aspartame before she noticed any changes in symptoms? I do drink diet soda but I know there have been days in the past few months where I haven't, and I have drunk it throughout my life so I'm not sure why it would start just now. I did do some research into aspartame poisoning after finding an article about it online but apparently it isn't a "real" medical condition so I couldn't find any unbiased info at all.
MoGal-my vitamin ended up dissolving so I guess that is a good thing!

How about a small tiny pin pirick hole in the eardrum? Knew someone who had this, and he had ver similar symptoms as you. It took several doctorr to find the hole, and he had surgery to correct it, then was back to normal.

LoveMoo, My wife had consumed diet drinks for many years also. Apparently you can develop problems with it over time. I am going to include a link to the thread where we were steered onto aspartame as a possible source of her problem and you can see how things developed. http://www.forestryforum.com/board/inde ... 507.0.html
We have become friends with "PartTimer" and visit from time to time. I credit him with perhaps saving my wife's life,as she had become that sick. I believe she quit on a Wednesday, and by Saturday felt better than she had in 3 months. Essentially, with only a few minor episodes, she has been pain free ever since. We pass the information along as we can. Tom (PartTimer) and I passed the information to a Misssouri dairy farmer/sawyer who was having health problems. It helped him, and in fact he related he no longer needed the Viagra he had been prescribed. So it appears aspartame can affect individuals in a various ways. It may not have anything to do with your problem, but it is easy to find out. Make sure you consume no aspartame for a couple of weeks and see what happens. I can tell you it is a big relief to find out the cure is so simple if it is. We will be praying you get some relief and find some answers.

LoveMoo, I am the wife of Bandsaw and he was sharing your health issues with me. I am a registered nurse. I too suffered with dizziness along with migraine headaches that would last for days. I started my road to a diagnosis with our family phys. no luck. On to ENTs, Neurologist and then Pain specialist. I was given most of the same meds you are taking. I felt that no one was listening to me and that all I was doing was taking more medications and adding more symptoms to my already dreadful problem. There were nights I would wake up with horrible headaches and I became unable to perform my daily duties. Many days I would close my office door and close my eyes to attempt to continue with the day. It was awful. It was only after experiencing suicidal thoughts as a side effect of the Topomax, that I knew that I was not getting better with all of the meds. It scared me and I was desperate to find the answer to all of the pain and medication side effects. I do not know that aspartame is your problem, but I would caution you concerning all of the meds. Be aware if you have thoughts that you would not normally have, that they may be the medicine and not your emotional state. I called the neurologist when this occurred and I was given an appointment in 30 days. Not what someone contemplating taking their own life needs to hear. Thanks to my dear husband and the information we received from a stranger, I am healthy and enjoying our nine grandchildren. Always take family with you to the appts. I would get confused as to who was telling me what. Not a time I enjoy remembering. I wish you luck and pray that you soon find the answers you need.

I just remembered -- a friend at work was getting the shakes... not detox or anything just shaky hands...

...her doctor had her quit drinking diet soda and went back to regular and they stopped completely -- her doctor said there are prelimnary studies tying diet soda to MS or MS like symptoms...

...we all quit drinking diet soda now as well.

I can not stress enough how this stuff is not good for you -- Bandsaw thank you and your wife for bringing it up again

It'll take about 2 weeks for the craveing to quit,I don't know what's in them, but it is mildly adictive.Go to plain water. Doubt this will help with the problem, but will help your general health.

Peg I think you are right about it being mildly addictive...I don't eat/drink High Fructose Corn Syrup so I switched to diet. Went to the store last night and stocked up on seltzer waters and made a big batch of tea. Also realized my gum has aspartame in it so no more of that. So I am struggling a little bit right now but we'll see how it goes. Even if it doesn't make a difference in how I feel I still would like to drink less of it anyways. Thanks for the input.

I'm useing "Splenda" as a sweetner-it's the only one that doesn't leave a nasty aftertaste, aspertane being the biggest offender in that department. It's hard finding things without Hfcs I even found a jar of dill pickles with the stuff in it :???: I tried Stevia, but it had a licorish taste--may try it again now that I have most of my tastebuds back.

Hi everybody, just to update you on the situation, I saw a new doctor yesterday. I spent five hours at the doctor's office where I underwent a series of just about every test you could imagine that had to do with my ears and vestibular system. Everything there is just fine and all normal. After all this, the doctor said he was very confident that I have a migraine variant. This is what my neurologist had said back in December, only she said "maybe" that's what it was and that we would try the different meds, etc. He said he didn't feel that the meds my neuro was using were effective (he has treated this before and has had several cases very similar to mine in fact). So this week I am detoxing off of my old medication and next week start on a new type that he feels will help me, then I will see him again in two weeks. He is very confident, as I said, but I will believe it when I feel better I guess. He told me more about the condition, basically its similar to a migraine without the head pain, but instead I am getting other issues that are associated with migraines. The symptoms vary from person to person, but the ones I am experiencing that fit (some I didn't realize were symptoms until he told me) are of course the constant dizziness, short periods of numbness in the hands or feet (in my case feet), and forgetting the words one is trying to say, or looking for. Things that trigger the condition are dehydration, caffeine, processed foods, processed meats, salt, cheese, alcohol, nicotine, stress. I do not eat processed foods, use alcohol or nicotine, but am going to have to work at the rest of it. The only proc. meats I eat are ham and bacon but we usually have ham steak for dinner every couple weeks or so. I've never had to worry about what I eat too much so I guess I am going to have to overhaul my habits. But I am willing to do it and think my overall health will benefit in the long run. I am working on reducing soda anyways and don't drink coffee so that will help on the caffeine end. I am wondering if they make decaf iced tea? Because I do like iced tea. :) I have to pee a lot as it is (sorry if that's TMI, but I have been that way since I was a baby) and even if I just drink a little water it makes me have to go more so that's a pain but hey. It should be interesting so if anyone has any suggestions or recipes that are low salt, etc. I'd love to hear them. I am hoping this is the answer I have been looking for.

I sure hope you have found the solution and that the new Doc and meds put you on the path to feeling more like your normal healthy self!

Good luck and keep in touch about it, this has been most interesting!

Hey ILM...you have not mentioned the urination part before. Have you mentioned it to the Dr, as Diabetes insipidus and not diabetes mellitus, can cause all the problems you have mentioned. My Son suffers from it and he gets dizzy if he doesn't take his meds and drinks to much fizzy drinks. 8oz of drink 8 - 10 times a day flushes out the kidneys and keeps them clean. he also has migraine stomach no headache just pain in the abdomin he can't have all the things you mentioned and chocolate is on his list of can't haves. We are both on a low salt diet, when I can work out how to scan copy and paste I will send you over a copy of our diet sheet...Chris.
