I just realized I jumped right into posting in the other forums I never posted an introduction.

My name is Jeremy Rogers hence the neighborhood. Currently I live in Fort Worth in the city limits so my cattle live about 45 minutes from me. Talk about a heart break.

I grew up raising Holstein bottle calves from the sale barn and loved it. Decided I was going to jump back in about 2 months ago and here we are with 9 pot bellied suckers and 1 that looks like he's straight from Auschwitz. When I jump in, I dive headfirst apparently. This Texas heat is the bane of my existence, but I think it's probably even harder on my calves.

I work full time in clinical research so I travel for work when I'm not at home. My wife and I are expecting our first baby girl in December and having livestock for her to grow up around is a big deal to me.

I hope to use these calves to learn the ropes financially, healthwise and every other way. I plane to eventually start my own herd of a specific breed, which I am still working on. Right now thinking about angus, Santa Gertrudis. We'll see how I feel next week.

Looking forward to learning from you all.

Great picture. Congrats on the new addition.

Congrats on your first baby. I am guessing from the smoke it is a girl?

Welcome from NE Alabama ! Congrats on the first baby ! I've never fooled with purebred Holstein calves but have a neighbor that does . Somehow he gets them raised and must make a little money 💴 on them because he buys more . They always look pretty rough when they are little.

Thank you! I guess I should have specified, I didn't jump back into holstein, I jumped in with a hodge podge mix of beef calves!

Haha that would be a good guess. And thank you!

Congrats! They say ultrasounds are 95% or better correct. Well, I don't think my son, who is named 'Nathaniel', would have been too happy if I followed in the footsteps of Johnny Cash and named him Sue! 🙃 The Dr., using TWO separate ultrasounds, said he would be a girl. I didn't care either way. Was just a happy papa.

Congratulations on your new family addition!
And welcome to CT. Lots of good advice and good people on here.

Well, follow that wisp of smoke that is Murray and he'll lead ya down the hodgepodge highway. He's been doing it awhile. Welcome to CT. I'm straight down 35 too, but more than 45 minutes and no longer have farm or cows... I just hang around here like a stinkin coyote on a fence line but it ain't a bad place to be.
