Morels 2021

Found my first morels of the 2021 season today... just emerging... so tiny I almost missed them.
These are growing in the pond spillway area here at the house... black willows & a red mulberry to west and east, and a shellbark hickory(on pecan rootstock) to the north.

Guess I gotta hit the woods now and check out the spot where I almost always find 'em.

I never was good at finding Morels. But I have found and ate lots of Chantrels over on the coast. They come out after the first good rain in September.

Conditions are right, but no luck yet for 2021. We love 'em. We tend to find them around ash trees here.

Love them little mushrooms!

I love those. I know some people who find them by the sack, but I usually just find enough for a sampling.
